The provosts lived from around 1100 until the looting by the French around 1800 in private houses around the church. Many canon houses from the 18th century can still be seen today in the former cathedral precinct (Herrenstraße, Stiftsstraße, Hammgasse, Münsterplatz).
Also known as Schönecker Tower or Eltzer Court. Late medieval residential tower of the Lords of Schöneck, in the possession of the Kurtrier after 1370 (seat of the bailiff). Later owned by the Lords of Eltz. Renaissance bay window. Structural changes in the 17th and 18th centuries.
Wernerseck Castle sits enthroned on a rocky spur high above the nature reserve of the Nettetal. Her residential tower, lined with bay windows, is visible from afar.
