Two commissioners kill literarily – Crime reading with insider insight
If former investigators take up the pen, it becomes exciting – and authentic. In this special crime reading, two former detectives meet, who know what they are writing about. Dieter Aurass and Jörg Schmitt-Kilian reflect on years of experience in police service and take their audience behind the scenes of real investigative work.
In the first part of the evening, the two will talk about their professional lives as detectives: unusual cases, quirky anecdotes, moving moments – and the question of what aspects of crime stories from film and literature are truly realistic and what springs more from imagination. An exciting look at the differences between real police work and its portrayal in the media.
In the second part, it will become murderously literary: The authors will read selected passages from their crime novels and show how real experiences turn into gripping tension on paper.
A night for crime fans, true crime enthusiasts, and anyone who wants to know how close fiction and reality really are.
The event will take place in the Johann-Büchel-Saal on the upper floor of the Tourist Information in Münstermaifeld.
